Nitrux performance depends heavily on whether the hardware matches its modern workstation target. Before tuning desktop settings, make sure the machine is not simply below the recommended baseline.

Use fast storage

An SSD is far more suitable than a mechanical drive for everyday workstation use. NVMe storage gives the system more headroom for updates, application loading and development workloads.

Give the desktop enough memory

Four gigabytes is a minimum for a standard experience, while 8 GB or more is recommended. Heavy development, browsers, virtualized workloads and creative applications can benefit from substantially more.

Confirm graphics acceleration

A modern Wayland desktop needs a compatible graphics path. If the GPU falls outside current Mesa or NVIDIA Open Kernel Module support, performance tweaks cannot replace missing driver compatibility.

Reduce simultaneous heavy workloads

If the system is under memory pressure, close applications you are not using and reduce unnecessary background tasks. Measure changes one at a time so you know what actually helped.

Keep sufficient free space

Very low storage headroom can make updates and application operations less reliable. Keep a reasonable amount of free space on the system volume and project volumes.

Do not over-tune immediately

Run the system in its default configuration first. Only change compositor, power or application settings after you have identified a specific bottleneck. For broader suitability, read the Nitrux Linux review.
